Think Outside the Box: Mono White Martyr in Modern!!

Hello again and welcome back to Think Outside The Box!

This week for modern I decided to go to another non-conventional deck in the vast modern meta.

Mono White Martyr Proc! Now. Not to be confused with the ever popular Soul Sisters, this deck has the ability to grind and grind and wear the opponent down. I really really enjoyed playing this deck it was an absolute blast to play. The deck did struggle with the combo decks of the format (Grishoalbrand, storm etc.) but against all the other midrange decks it certainly shone.

This card certainly performed about as well as I expected it to, I think it will be a while before i’m sick of this deck. This was the first time I had ever played this deck and there’s alot of small interactions that add up! For example, if we Ghost Quarter our own Flagstones Of Trokair it just becomes sheer value and lets us search up a copy of Mistveil Plains which in turn lets us return Squadron Hawk to the bottom of our library to the be found by their little birdy friends!

So, for changes. Going forward I would personally like to try replacing Gideon, Ally Of Zendikar with Figure Of Destiny. This is solely because of the ability to search it out with Ranger Of Eos and it will finish the game real quickly! The other changes would be minor. I think trying out Relic Of Progenitus over the Surgical Extraction.

So the video contains 3 rounds where I finished 2-1 losing very narrowly to UW Control. I managed to beat Eldrazi Tron even after me misclicking my way out of a very winnable game and the game VS G tron was just really funny. all in all I finished that league 2-2 losing to Storm. There was 5 rounds, honestly. During one of the games my opponent actually bugged the game, he spliced a Nourishing Shoal and then cast Goryo’s Vengeance apparently this bugs the game. So that round was a no go.

If you haven’t checked this deck out yet I highly recommend giving it a shot. For now I want to try out Soul Sisters purely because I get to play Archangel Of Thune or Crested Sunmare.

Thanks for watching everyone!

Until Next time.

Ronnie.
